Corrective Behaviors

Barking
Dogs bark. It is part of their normal and natural communication and behavior. Dogs can bark for appropriate and good reasons, such as when strangers approach our house, but dogs can also bark inappropriately. Dogs may bark when they are seeking attention, when they are playing or excited, or when they are bored, lonely or anxious. We can help eliminate your dogs inappropriate barking.

Biting

Biting can be a serious behavioral problem for a dog. We help your puppy socialize in a way that helps to prevent this from happening. Our goal is to eliminate unacceptable behavior before it becomes a bad habit and to set appropriate limits for your dog's behavior. If your dog starts to exhibit aggressive behaviors, please call us for a full evaluation as soon as possible.

Boundary Training
Boundary training is a tool for dog owners who want to restrict their dogs to one location without restricting their movements. Boundary training works inside or outside, limiting the dog to a very small area or to a particular space within acres of land, depending on your situation.

Chewing
Dogs chew on whatever they can get their mouths on for any number of reasons: they are bored, they have a lot of energy, they are teething, or they are just curious. Dogs learn through their mouths. It is their tool; it is how they receive a great deal of information. They are naturally inclined to use their mouths whenever they can. Fortunately, most destructive chewing behavior can be prevented or controlled with proper training.

Digging
Dogs dig for a variety of reasons. Dogs sometimes dig out of boredom or to work off energy. Dogs are great savers and often bury bones or other treats for a rainy day, or may be looking for cool soil to escape the heat.  Digging, although a natural instinct can be modified to acceptable levels.

House Training
House training a puppy or an adult dog requires patience, routine and diligence and is one of the biggest reasons people call us. We create a program that helps your dog understand the concept of house training and embrace it. We’ll also help you understand your dogs physical capabilities and learn how to prevent accidents.

Jumping
Dogs often jump up on people. This is normal behavior for a young dog. Jumping serves both as a playful activity as well as a method to challenge other dogs. We utilize several techniques which can eliminate inappropriate jumping.

Obedience
Dog training for obedience is an essential ingredient in any healthy human-dog relationship. Obedience training is achieved through various training techniques, but the goal is always to build a close, healthy relationship between you and your dog. Dog obedience training includes both setting boundries and helping your dog relate appropriately to other dogs, animals and people; to understand basic manners, and how to behave in any given situation.

Off-leash Training
Off leash training is the next logical training step once your dog is comfortable walking on a leash. Our goal is to train your dog in a way that makes him behave in the exact same manner off the leash as they do when they are on their leash.

Leash Pulling
One of the most common behavior problems that people have with their puppies is pulling on the leash. It is much easier to prevent the problem than to have to correct it once it has become a habit. There are several training methods that we can use to teach your puppy the right way to walk on a leash. If you already have a pulling problem, we can certainly teach an “old dog new tricks” and get him walking nicely by your side!

Submissive Urination

Submissive urination is an issue that can affect any dog regardless of age, breed, or gender, but typically younger dogs and females are the most likely to experience it. We help discover the underlying reasons for your dog's uncontrolled urinating habits, so we can correct them.

Territory Marking
Territorial instincts vary from breed to breed, and from dog to dog. Territorial marking can be difficult to distinguish from straightforward house training accidents, especially in younger dogs, but there are several signs that distinguish the difference. We can help you understand how to handle this problem.
