There are three different approaches to dog training – but only one that is truly effective.
The most common approach is using FOOD as a reward system. Although food can be helpful in overcoming behavioral problems – it actually trains your dog to behave like a child… demanding a reward every time the desired behavior is achieved. This is a vicious cycle that is hard to break out of. This method is regularly employed in retail store training sessions and should be avoided.
A second method is using FEAR. A dog will always cower and may even temporarily modify their behavior when they feel fear. We don’t believe you should ever scare or threaten your dog into doing what you want them to do. Fear as a motivator is never an answer for curing behavioral problems. Dog obedience training should be fun so it is enjoyed by everyone!
The last and most successful method is using PRAISE. It is the only method we employ. This method demands that you monitor the dog very closely and always provide them with positive feedback when their behavior warrants it. Dogs are naturally motivated by praise and do not require anything additional. It also provides a warm and genuine bond with your pet.
